Biwako Valley review by npwran
Biwako valley ski resort sits on top of the mountain looking over lake biwa and Otsu. The views are fantastic.

It's as close as you can get to Kyoto and Osaka to ski or snowboard.

If you go on a weekday after a cold spell and a fresh dump of snow it's better than you might expect for somewhere so close to the city.
Date visited: From January, 2004
Snow condition on visit: Thin powdery layer over harder compacted snow
Things I liked: Easy to get to, and better than I thought it would be. Can ski all night on Saturdays.
Things I didn't like: Can be very crowded on weekends
