For people snowboarding in the Sendai/Miyagi area, JJ is a great place that offers good snow, long runs, and modern high-speed lifts on a mountain reachable by normal (non-toll) roads.

It seems to be geared towards snowboarders and younger people in general and they've done a good job putting in jumps and other structures to keep things interesting.

Another big plus is the music they play over the PA system. Unlike the garbage played at other slopes, JJ does manage to play decent songs and I was happy not to hear that "Kaze no Hana" SMAP song they play everywhere else even once during the time I was there... That alone should be enough reason to visit JJ.

They also have a "tree run" which I have yet to try but the fact that JJ is advertising such a course is encouraging since most other slopes I've been to here aren't too happy about people straying off into the forest.

There is currently a promotion being run that gives a discount lift ticket with or without a lunch and soft drink ticket.

Be warned that the meal coupon only entitles you to a "set meal" and the soft drink consists of a small paper cup filled with either tea, orange juice, or water. You might be better off getting the discount ticket that doesnt include the meal and then head for the "curry shop" on the opposite side of the main building from the cafeteria.
Date visited: From 25 January, 2004
Snow condition on visit: Powder/Groomed mix, snowing on and off
Things I liked: Cheap prices, good runs, modern facilities
Things I didn't like: --
