As a 'local' resort Echo Valley is pretty good. It's great for an afternoon's riding. It has two quite clearly defined areas, one of which has a very steep, ungroomed run. With no new snow, it can be horrific, but with a layer of powder on the moguls it's a great run.

There's a bit of action to be had in the woods at the edges, but not much.

The park has some big kickers and table tops, waves, and long rails.

Due to the snow in this area not being as good as Northern Nagano, I wouldn't bother traveling to Echo Valley, but for anybody who lives within an hour's drive, it's well worth checking out. Note that there's a car-parking fee on weekends. I always went on weekdays to avoid this and to enjoy riding with very few people around.

They also have a points system to reward regular visitors.
Date visited: No specific date.
Snow condition on visit: Powder, turning to clag
Things I liked: Cheap, decent toys, variety
Things I didn't like: Music, slow lifts, not stellar snow
