Let's Tsugaike!
If I had not bought a 2-day Alpen pass while staying at Happo-one, I probably would have spurned Tsugaike in favour of its bigger, more famous neighbours but I am glad I got to check it out, albeit for one afternoon only. I took the free shuttle bus from Happo Information Centre and exchanged my Happo pass for a Tsugaike one, which caused a bit of confusion at the ticket booth but I was soon on my way up the gondola.

There was low cloud and therefore poor visability at the top but I played in the powder under under the closed Tsuga No. 1 Pair Lift, which kept me amused for a while. I then headed back down to the base and then up to the skiers left of the resort for a few runs before calling it a day. I wanted to check out the onsen at the base but didnt have time before my bus back to Happo - maybe next time!

Although I only spent a few hours at Tsugaike and therefore did not see the whole resort, I liked what I saw and would go there again.
Date visited: From 28 December, 2011
Snow condition on visit: Fresh powder but poor visibility up top
Things I liked: Not very busy
Things I didn't like: Was quite flat at the bottom though good for beginners
