Grandee Hatoriko Ski Resort
Checked out Grandee Hatoriko over the weekend of Jan. 9-10 with the kid, staying overnight at their affiliated hotel/golf club near the Shirakawa IC. Had low expectations, to be honest, but ended up having a great weekend. This was in no small part due to the hotel turning out to be much more luxurious than expected: marble-tiled bathrooms, catered French dinner, and much higher levels of service than were expected for the ski-package price.

The snow conditions were excellent. Groomed on most of the tracks with some terrain left virgin, including the top expert section. However, the top section is accessible only by an aged monoplace lift. The powder was light and very fluffy. There was plenty of place to do freeriding in
