Grandee Hatoriko Ski Resort review by scott durand
Hatoriko is a nice resort for a days sking. Its got some long runs. Its relatively well organised. I think it is more of an intermediates mountain than beginner or advanced.

It even has a poma tow.

Havent used one of those in Japan before. I'll go a couple of times a season

Catches a lot of the foul weather around Bandai so if you don't mind skiing or riding in white out conditions, you're laughin'. One of the best things about this hill: limited access keeps the big crowds out, even on the weekends.

Not big but has a few steeps here and there...relaxed atmosphere...good place if you hate crowds, don't mind a medium-sized hill, and have a ride that suits the road leading up to the base of the hill.

Grandeko had a bit of snow, and lots of grass and plants sticking out of it. It made me wonder if they glade at all, or just let the snow cover it.

The gondola is small and little funky. You have to take your snowboards in, and there isn't much room if your deck is more than 160.

There wasn't a park and all the open runs were beginner/intermediate. I had fun working on my flatland tricks, and teaching the crew some

I really like this place! Has one great run in the middle at the top you kind of ski in a valley.

Usually ony ski the left hand side of the mountain (the city side) venture over to the right hand side sometimes but that side is better early season

Grandeco Snow Resort review by aaronward
Well, what ski area on Honshu wasn't having snow problems around the new year?

Still, that aside, the lack of snow making machines really surprised me. For the price, Gran Deco is not bad. Even for such a busy time as Jan. 2, there were only three people at the ticket counter, and the line snaked its way out the door all the way to the parking lot tunnel.

The lifts were somewhat convenient at the base, but better on the

Minowa review by horrified
We went to Minowa, because we were in the area, and they had the best snow conditions.

It was freezing cold at the top compared to the bottom, and the visibility was a bit poor.

Packed with people (only good one in the area at that time of the year.) Also, there is ZERO cell-phone reception. Good thing my son and I brought our Motorola 2-way radios to communicate.

On the plus side -- there was lots of snow. We enjoyed

Inawashiro is a nice little resort, especially the Minero portion of the mountain.

The above day was a bit warm and the snow turned slushy, but the mountain was essentially empty and the runs were quite fun.
