Tsugaike Onsen (indoor & outdoor hot springs) are just a 2 minutes walk. There are also many public hot springs in the Hakuba area (5-20 minutes by car).

We provide local healthy and natural foods (Japanese and Western style).
Enjoy our delicious and nutritious daily menu, both fish and meat dishes at dinner and bread specially baked with original natural yeast at breakfast.
Please advise in advance if you require a vegetarian menu for evening meal.

Hakuba village is located in the north western region of Nagano Prefecture and is about an hour road journey from central Nagano City and Nagano Station.
The local Oito train line and Route 148 road both run through the village.
The Hakuba area is easily accessed from three expressways and around an hour drive from each. The Azumino IC exit on the Nagano Expressway is about 50km to the south of the central Hakuba Station area (access via Route 147 and Route 148). The Nagano IC exit on the Joshinetsu Expressway is about 45km to the east of the central Hakuba Station area (access via Route 19, Prefecture Road 31 and Prefecture Road 31). The Itoigawa IC exit on the Hokuriku Expressway is about 45km to the north of the central Hakuba Station area (access via Route 148).

Petit Hotel Schanze is located close to the Gondola of the Tsugaike Kogen resort in Otari Village (just to the north of Hakuba). Other resorts in the region are within easy reach. Hakuba Station is about 8km away.

Petit Hotel Schanze is a friendly family run hotel in the Tsugaike Kogen area of the Hakuba range. We offer a comfortable and relaxing escape from city life. You can see the magnificent mountain views from our hotel and just close by the hotel are snow fields where you can walk and snowshoe. The slopes of Tsugaike Kogen resort are just over 5 minutes walk away (and we can also take you there by car if you want!)

Our home-made special dishes are made with home-grown vegetables and fruits and organic, natural foods. Dutch oven cuisine, smoked foods , breads and jams , cakes and sweets, Japanese pickles, sushi, tempura, soba-noodles, and more are all hand-made by ourselves. We cook both Japanese and western style menus and also cater to vegetarians and other special dietary needs (please advise in advance).
