The Madarao Kogen area is located in Iiyama City in north eastern Nagano Prefecture on the border with the Myoko region of Niigata Prefecture. Prefecture Road 97 goes through Madarao Kogen and past the ski resort. Iiyama Station on the Iiyama local train line is the closest. Nagano Station is approx. 36km to the south west of Madarao.
Madarao is just a 20-25 minute drive from Iiyama, located high up in the mountains and offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains of Nagano and Niigata Prefecture.
