Well known for our carefully prepared meat dishes. In winter season we also prepare popular warm nabe dishes, along with local wine and Japanese sake.
For breakfast, enjoy warm bread and our “drink as much as you wish” specially prepared coffee. Egg, bacon/ham, vegetable salad and deserts also available. Enjoy a hearty meal whilst looking over the spectacular Shiga mountain scenery.

We have both male and female baths for 3-6 people, available after coming back from a day out on the slopes. 3 minutes by car away is the outside rotenburo “Madarao no yu”.
3 minutes walk away is a Picture Art Gallery.
6 minutes walk away is the Restaurant area with a selection of different restaurants and cuisines to choose from.
Wireless internet is accessible in each room via LAN.

Information

The Madarao Kogen area is located in Iiyama City in north eastern Nagano Prefecture on the border with the Myoko region of Niigata Prefecture. Prefecture Road 97 goes through Madarao Kogen and past the ski resort. Iiyama Station on the Iiyama local train line is the closest. Nagano Station is approx. 36km to the south west of Madarao.

From the Toyota-Iiyama IC, we are about 16km away using Route 117. Follow the signs to Madarao Kogen. When you see Madarao Kogen Hotel, you will see Chikumadai Pension Village. We offer a shuttle wagon service from the Madarao Kogen Hotel bus stop if required.

Coach service from JR Nagano Station is available at 1,400 yen during the skiing season, leaving Nagano at 9:20 and 14:00 for an approx. one hour ride.

Bus service between Madarao and Nozawa is also provided every day during the season. Details are obtainable at the pension.
