There's more news this morning as Kagura has now closed the Gondola Course due to the heat melting away the snow at a fast pace - leaving us with just the main Kagura run now open. They'll be doing all they can to keep that open until the end of Sunday.
Check the photo below to see what it's looking like.
It's going to be another hot day today with temperatures down here in town probably reaching 30 degrees. There'll maybe be more cloud tomorrow and not as hot, with a bit of rain still on the forecast for Sunday. It will be the first rain for quite a while!
Mitsumata Ropeway Kagura Gondola Kagura Number 1 high speed lift Kagura Number 1 Romance lift (this lift operating on Saturday and Sunday only)
Here's how it works - get on the Mitsumata Ropeway and at the top get on a shuttle bus which takes you over to the base of the Kagura Gondola. Get on the Kagura Gondola which takes you to the main Kagura area where you ski down to the open quad lift.
The resort is saying that it takes about 30 minutes to get to the skiable area, but expect it to be longer tomorrow and Sunday with queues likely for the Ropeway. If you are wanting to get up to Kagura, a very early start is highly recommended.
All other ski resorts in the region are closed for the season.
