As the season ends at Tenjindaira, we look back on the season.
It was a bit of a mixed bag in Minakaim this snow season. It started with some promising dumps early December which got everyone excited about the possibility of a BIG snow season. Unfortunately December didn't turn out to be that great but there was stil enough for all resorts to open as planned.
January was a bit of a disappointment this season. Typically it is the biggest snowfall month of the season but the consistant storms did not really materialize. Having said that there were still a few great powder days to be had and plenty of snow on-piste.
February was good with a lot of quality and consistant snow coming in from the second week. It was definately needed to fill in the backcountry terrain, and resorts were all happy with the snow base looking strong heading into Spring.
March was another dissapointing month. Typically we get at least two big storm cycles through but this season only a sparse few top ups eventuated.
The suprising month has been April and the end of the season with snow continuing to fall. This has extended the season for Tenjindaira and there has even been some great BC riding available.
All in all it was a pretty solid season with an early start (December 1st) and a late finish (May 6th). Not as many BIG powder days but the snow quality and consistancy was pretty bomber.
Minakami is already well into spring mode and as many of you probably know there's a whole lot to do in the area including hiking and rafting. The Ropeway operates all year round (apart from periods of maintenance and one such period will be June 24th until June 28th this year).
