Good morning from Niseko and it's another clear, sunny and quite mild start to the day here and today will once again warm up to double digit temperatures. A moderate wind expected today, but it's too early at the time of writing to bring any news of possible lift disruptions...
There might be some rain/snow overnight tonight though into tomorrow, so would be good if I could report a fresh layer of snow in my next report. (Don't expect anything significant though!)

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Wednesday 9th April 2014, 7:52am
The sun is out again here in Nozawa and we have a lot of it lined up over the next week by the looks of the latest forecasts. The only interruption to the fine spring sun seems to be later on tomorrow when rain is expected in the village and perhaps some fresh snow on the top areas of the resort. That shouldn't last long though and we will soon enough be back to sun.
From Friday to Sunday this week, we'll all have the chance to test out new model skis and snowboards. If you are interested, head up to the top Yamabiko area of the resort at any of the times below...
Friday 11th - 10am until 3pm Saturday 12th - 9:30am until 3pm Sunday 13th - 9:30am until 2:30pm
...and check out some next season gear. It's free, but you will need some kind of formal identification that has a photo of yourself on it to sign up and take part. Looks like they have a lot of brands lined up so should be fun.

Just had to add a note today, with a lot of cars in the Akakan parking lot, a great sunny day and some still very white snow.
Looks like there may be a little more fresh, even, over the next day and a half or so! Seems like the town decided that the arrival of cherry blossoms in nearby Joetsu also meant they should take down all ski information from official website. OK, the last of my complaints about the bureaucrats for this season but they have really not done the area many favors with late reports, incomplete information and a slow start and fast close. You, good reader, are at Snow Japan, so you know better, of course....
Come up and play!
Akakura Kanko: Myoko Kogen Sky Cable gondola and hotel No. 3 lift will stay open until May 6, or whenever the snow runs out.
It is another clear sunny day here in Furano. The temperatures have fallen well below freezing overnight so the melting snow on the footpaths around town has turned to ice. All runs have been groomed and are in great condition for this time of year. Snow is still on the forecast and should start falling from evening.
