Clear and sunny
The sun is out this morning but it looks like the clouds are going to roll in soon with rain forecast from this afternoon through to midday tomorrow.
The outlook for the rest: Wednesday and Thursday should see warm temperatures (18-20 deg) and sun and some cloudy periods, Friday may see some rain with a cloudy day forecast for Saturday, sun again on Sunday.
It is a slightly overcast morning here in Niseko. The clouds are expected to last throughout the day but at the moment the clouds are very high giving good visibility in the resort. Temperatures are expected to rise to a maximum of 11degrees C at the lift base and 4degrees C at the top, with light winds today.
The freezing level is still high, hovering around 1900metres, a mixture of sunny and overcast conditions are forecast for the next few days. Read more ...

Sun, some cloud
Another wonderful day in terms of fine weather yesterday making it a good end to the season for a number of the resorts in the area.
This morning it is a bright and sunny but fairly hazy start to the day. Some cloud in the sky to the south, only a few to the north but it looks set to warm up to around 15 degrees this afternoon. It is already rather warm. There's a good chance of rain later on this evening and into tomorrow.
Some stronger winds higher up mean that Gala Yuzawa is closed for the day. The winds don't seem to be affecting operations today at Kagura which is fully open.
Resorts that remain open in the region are as follows, planned closing dates shown:
13th APRIL: Pine Ridge Resorts Kandatsu Maiko (in Minamiuonuma)
It's a warm morning, already 5 degrees at Kagura. While the sun is out at Mitsumata right now, there's a fair bit of cloud around Naeba this morning where it is currently 7 degrees with a high of 13 forecast for around lunchtime.
From today until 25th April, the Dragondola will be taking a rest on weekdays. That means that today out of the three gondolas at Naeba just the No 2 is operating. Kagura meanwhile is fully open.
From now until Golden Week (late April), other main resort areas plan to re-open once again for weekends and then for the Golden Week period itself, as below:
Giant will open on 12th and 13th April and then for the Golden Week period from 26th April until 6th May.
Higashitateyama will be open on 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th April and then again from 26th April until 6th May.
Ichinose Diamond plans to open weekends and then 26th April until 6th May.
Yakebitaiyama plans to open on 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th April and then from 26th April until 6th May. Read more ...
Nozawa Onsen Now!
Monday 7th April 2008, 9:27am
A cloudy start to the day with some breaks and the sun shining through at times. There is a slight breeze this morning but that is forecast to become stronger later on in the day and we might be in for some rain as well later on today as well as tomorrow.
From today, lift operations are scaled down furhter and on weekdays will be as follows:
- Nagasaka gondola (both parts); - Yamabiko Two Four; - Yamabiko Four
The Uenotaira Four should be opening on weekends and during the Golden Week period (when a few more lifts plan to be open, depending on conditions... we'll bring you more on that nearer the time).
The winds are picking up slightly around the tri-peaks, with cloud cover rolling in with it. The melting rate will increase over the next few weeks, but the sun still has to get through 4.5 metres at Seki Onsen.
The pick of the day is Suginohara, with wide and well-groomed courses without the weekend crowd.
Your Myoko area levels for today: 230cm (Akakura Kanko Resort); 215cm (Akakura Onsen); 110cm (Ikenotaira); 140cm on the bottom (Suginohara); 455cm (Seki Onsen); 135cm (Madarao Kogen);
