Temps down to just around 5 degrees at base overnight and rising to a not so warm 8 degrees during the day. Tomorrow should actually be even colder and it might not be surprising if there's a bit of snow fall on the mountainsides.

Hakuba Now!

Monday 6th April 2015, 8:56am
Weather conditions: Cloudy, foggy, rainy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 95cm
Good morning and welcome to what I think can safely be called "the last bit".

Yesterday we had more than our fair share of rainfall. This morning, alas, rain is still coming down but less so than yesterday. Lots of cloud and fog around too and what looks like pretty poor visibility on the mountain, especially at higher elevations.

It's going to get colder later in the day today and overnight into tomorrow. Cold enough for some snowfall, particularly as you get higher up? I'd like to be able to log in some new cm if at all possible, please!

We are now left with those 'big 4' resorts open in the Hakuba area (and in a few days I'll go over what exactly is open in each area as snow on lower areas thing out and things start getting more restrictive).

Furano Now!

Monday 6th April 2015, 9:22am
Weather conditions: Foggy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 150cm
The stormy weather of the weekend has passed, the strong winds have reduced, and it is pretty calm at the moment. We have light rain which is expected to continue through the day and cloud is right down to the resort base which means on-piste visibility is not very good. Temperatures are mild but will drop substantially tomorrow into winter negatives and bring some light snowfall. The piste is wet and slushy.   Read more ...
