Thursday 4th May 2017, 8:03am
Weather conditions: Sunny, blue skies. Some high thin cloud.
New snowfall: 0cm

Good morning from Yuzawa.

The fine sunny weather continues. As expected yesterday was warmer and today should be similarly warm, perhaps a bit warmer. It is a already around 15C here in town.

There's a bit of cloud around again this morning but it should be a mostly clear and sunny day. And more sun forecast for tomorrow (and still a bit of rain on the forecast for Saturday).

Including today, just 4 more days left at GALA Yuzawa, Kandatsu Kogen, Naeba and the Tashiro area of Kagura. From next Monday we'll be left with just Kagura open (via Mitsumata Ropeway) and they plan to be open until 28th May!

---

Today is a national holiday - as is tomorrow. Places will be popular, early start recommended!

Still excellent snow cover at Kagura and GALA Yuzawa. More patchy at the lower Kandatsu Kogen, and Naeba is mostly bare on lower slopes but you can still ski or board back down to base. More info below.

Good morning.

Today is Midori-no-hi. And there's certainly a lot more green appearing here as spring takes hold. It might be sad that the ski and snowboard season is about to end, but there's a lot to love about spring too. And I don't just mean that lie-in that I'm so looking forward to on Monday. :)

It's a cracker this morning too.

Clear blue skies and sunshine.

During the winter season, the section of the Route 292 main road that connects Shiga Kogen (from Yokoteyama) with Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture is closed due to all the snow. That section of road has now re-opened which means that you can now get to Shiga Kogen via Gunma Prefecture from the east - either for spring skiing and snowboarding or just for sightseeing. The road has had to be 'cut out' of the snow meaning that in places there are impressive snow walls on either side.   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Fair. Blue skies, some thin high cloud

Good morning from Grandeco.

Four more days to enjoy skiing in this area - at Grandeco or Nekoma - with both ski hills trying their best to keep the snow ride-able until Sunday.

The base area of Grandeco is still open, but the course down to base is now getting narrow. Happily the upper courses are still available so it's recommended to take the Number 3 lift and Melissa course to enjoy the larger amounts of snow.

There are many cars around the area now because it's Golden Week. Everywhere seems to be crowded with people. Drive safe and move quick!
