Some blue sky + thin high cloud
It's a mix of blue sky and thin high cloud this morning in the region.
The forecast was previously for all good sunny weather for the coming four days but a bit of rain here and there seems to have creeped in - may get some of that later on today (and Monday).
Temperatures to rise up to nearly mid 20's today down in town? Maybe. It's already rather warm as we approach 9am.
As previously mentioned expect places to be busy this weekend. Hope you have a good one wherever you are.
Current planned resort operations:
3rd-6th May only: Naeba (Takenokodaira and Daishamen slopes - this may change depending on snow conditions)
Daily until 6th May: GALA Yuzawa (Most of Central and part of North Area) Kagura (Tashiro area)
Daily until 25th May: Kagura (the main Kagura area via Mitsumata)
All other resorts in the region are now closed for the season.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Saturday 3rd May 2014, 9:01am
Cloudy, some blue sky
Good morning from Nozawa.
With the snow also all but gone from the Hikage base area now (see photo below), still very good cover up top - which is the area that remains open of course.
Expecting lots of people to be here for the long weekend (a pretty long queue for the gondola this morning) and hoping that the weather will hold ok. More clouds than we were perhaps expecting this morning but some blue sky too. Temps. set to rise above 20 degrees.
Tomorrow should be more sun and less cloud.
(2pm. Base station of the Gondola. Tempura!)
The Nagasaka Gondola will open from 8:10am until Tuesday.
Saturday 3rd May 2014:
Official snow depths: Yamabiko - 185cm Uenotaira - 85cm
Lifts Planned operating lifts for today: Nagasaka Gondola Yamabiko Four Yamabiko Number 2 Four Skyline connecting Uenotaira Four Paradise Four Yunomine Pair
Courses Planned courses to be open: Yamabiko A Yamabiko B Yamabiko C Yamabiko D Yamabiko E Kogenashi Paradise Uenotaira Bunabayashi
Yesterday was indeed a fine day weather wise and warmed up good too.
Not good for the remaining snow on the lower slopes of 47 who are now recommending going down on the Gondola, though you can actually still get down on the slope (with a bit of walking involved) but that lower bit is very patchy... might not last!
It's a mix of cloud and blue sky this morning and once again it will warm up beyond 20 degrees.
Sunny clear skies are forecast for tomorrow.
Official snow depth numbers and operations at resorts remaining open (as of 3rd May 2014):

Golden week has arrived and the last long weekend to finish off the season.
Spring skiing but as it is late into the season coverage at the bottom has disappeared and runs are confined to the top half of the mountain. Just take the ropeway up and when finished come back down the ropeway.
Enjoy the mountain till the 6th as its a long wait till next season.
