Not much to report this morning really. Still rain here and there today though not as much as yesterday I would say. Would be really nice for it to clear up though and perhaps that is what we will get tomorrow with sun forecast for the day and warming up to around 13 degrees.
Maybe more rain for the weekend, and temperatures dropping around Tuesday. Hoping that might mean some snow...
It's getting patchy at Kagura as you can see on the photo below...
Resorts currently open:
Kagura: A 1500m run at the main Kagura area is open, access via Mitsumata Ropeway. The Kagura Number 1 quad servicing the open course weekdays.
Planned opening dates for resorts in Yuzawa Town:
Saturday 6th December: Kagura Tashiro Iwappara
Saturday 13th December: Naeba
Friday 19th December: Yuzawa Nakazato Yuzawa Kogen Yuzawa Park
It is a fine middle of the day here with the sun out and lots of blue sky, which is far preferable to all that rain of the last few days. Ski runs are all looking rather bare now with the snowline retreating back up the mountain. Today and tomorrow we expect highs of around 12-13 degrees here in the village... more sun tomorrow.
Looks like we might get rained on again before the snow arrives, but things are looking encouraging for snow around Tuesday 2nd.
Ski and snowboard resorts triple checking everything with Happo, 47, Goryu and Tsugaike ready to go as soon as there's enough snow. Hopefully that will be next week.
I'm happy to report that the Prefectural Road 33 - the one that that connects Hakuba with Nagano city - is now re-open. It sounds like some more repairs are needed in the Horinouchi area, but the road is passable. I'm sure that any further fixes will be made quickly. That road the gateway to Hakuba from Nagano and so lots of people use it and it's an important one to be open.
Planned opening dates :
Hakuba 47 - as soon as there's enough snow Hakuba Goryu - as soon as there's enough snow Happo-one - as soon as there's enough snow Tsugaike Kogen - as soon as there's enough snow Kashimayari Sports Village - early December Hakuba Sanosaka - mid December Hakuba Norikura Onsen - mid December Hakuba Cortina - Saturday 13th December Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field - Friday 19th December Read more ...

Afternoon from Hirafu, I was in Sapporo this morning. Lots of cloud around this afternoon but no rain and no snow to report with a high temperature of around 7 degrees today and a light wind.
Sun over the weekend maybe to be followed by rain and windy conditions on Monday. We're still looking to perhaps around Tuesday for temperatures to drop back to somewhere like where we want them to be and importantly for snow to fall...
Planned opening dates for the different resort areas on the mountain:
Niseko Grand Hirafu - will open as soon as there's enough snow (had been hoping for a 29th November opening) Niseko Annupuri Kokusai - will open as soon as there's enough snow Niseko Village - Monday 1st December Niseko Hanazono - Saturday 6th December Read more ...

Opening dates for the 2014 -15 season approach!
Its time to wax up your sticks and dust of your ski gear.
It has been a warm November but finally the temps look set to drop from next week with snow on the forecast to the valley level from Dec 5th. The December forecast from the JMA predicts a reasonable probability of higher than average temps with lower than average snow, so maybe not a great start to the season but over the main cold season (December to February) they predict a normal snowfall season.
There have been no major changes for Minakami resorts for this season, with the exception of Houdaigi changing to digital passes and Okutone making a new bottom reception building. The resorts final open dates will be snow dependent but currently they are planning to open on the following dates:
Tenjindaira - December 6th Houdaigi - December 13th Norn Minakami - December 18th White Valley- December 19th Minakami Kogen - December 20th Okutone - December 20th
