Yesterday was some bright sunny and warm weather in the region making for some fine weekend spring ski conditions. This morning the sun is out again and no clouds around, so it looks like we will have similar conditions -- just less people!
All of the Kagura resort area remains open (though note that not all of the lifts are operating) and the resort still has 3m as the base up top. Excellent going for late April and Kagura should easily be able to go right through until the 23rd of next month.
We will post Naeba Now weather update reports a few times a week until the end of the season at Kagura. The Yuzawa Now report will continue to be updated on a mostly daily basis - including any information on Kagura as well - so please keep an eye on that report as well for the most up-to-date information.
Official Snow Depths:
Kagura (Tashiro): 270cm
The Tashiro part of Kagura plans to be open until Wednesday 5th May.
The main Kagura area, via Mitsumata Ropeway, plans to be open through until Sunday 23rd May. Read more ...

Sun, fine weather
It is a bright and sunny morning in Zao, much like yesterday, thought it is a warmer start to the day after the cold start we had yesterday. Right now it is 3 degrees in the village, just a slight breeze and sunny skies.
We had another sprinkling of snow last night believe it or not, so it just isn't quite giving up yet though somehow it does feel more springlike and surely we are soon going to see temperatures start to rise.

Cool weather has continued over the last week with mostly cloudy skies and intermittent precipitation which fell as snow on the upper mountian. Saturday was a mostly fine day with some sun coming through in the afternoon but yesterday was cloudy and very cool. Today is only partly cloudy with sun at times and there was a little drizzle this morning but that has mostly cleared now. The mountain still has an excellent top to bottom cover which should hold up for the increased traffic expected over Golden Week which starts on Thursday. Some rain is expected mid week but should fall mostly as snow up high.
After the mixed bag of weather thrown at us over the weekend, today is looking very good indeed. We currently have full sun which should stay with us throughout the entire day. There is a light breeze which is making things feel a little on the chilly side - don't go out in a t-shirt based on the fact you can see the sun. The snow base is holding out real good at 115cm, allowing skiing from the top of the Furano Zone to the bottom.
Tomorrow is looking like Mr Sun will visit again, and then unbelievabley Mr Snow will show his face again on Wednesday - will winter ever end? Read more ...
