Nozawa Onsen Now!
Thursday 25th April 2013, 8:35am
Fine and clear
Good morning from Nozawa.
And it is a fine morning as well. Blue skies all around. Warm too and the resort is saying that even up at Yamabiko it is 10 degrees on their 8am update.... actually that is quite surprising that as the thermometer is only saying 8 degrees here as of 8:30am! The forecast has the afternoon warming up to about 17 degrees.
In resort news, it looks like they plan to open the Skyline connecting pair lift as well from 27th April for the Golden Week period (but no, the Skyline course won't be open!)
Here's the courses that plan to be open at Nozawa Onsen for that Golden Week period:
Yamabiko (all) Uenotaira (Snow Park will be open, but no half pipe) Paradise
For now, just the Yamabiko courses.
Official snow depths Yamabiko 190cm
Nozawa Onsen planned opening dates to the end of season:

It's a bit colder today than it was yesterday but it's also windier and wetter. Yes, it's raining this morning and over at Annupuri the resort is reporting winds of up to 27m/s.
The only lift operating early on is the Ace Number 2 Center four lift at Hirafu, with all other lifts closed due to wind. Not much choice today, I'm afraid, though weather (and snow) conditions are hardly the greatest to be out there.
The rain should clear up as the morning progresses leaving us with a cloudy afternoon and hopefully less strong winds - so more lifts may get moving.
Official Resort Snow Depths

It's a bright and fine morning in Yuzawa actually and just over 10 degrees at 9 o'clock. It might get as warm as 20 degrees today.
Cloud and possibly rain is forecast tomorrow.

We have spring like temperatures all over the resort. The not so good news is that it is raining, and with a light wind blowing it will not be the most pleasant day out on the slopes. For the dedicated that do make it out they will find the courses in fantastic condition for this time of year. If you havent invested in a wax job yet for warm spring conditions, now is the time. Fine, bit hazy
After the wet conditions of yesterday, it's a lovely blue sky morning here in Hakuba.... wispy clouds and hazy look to the east, but clearer looking over towards the mountains from the village.
The snow has of course continued to dry up from the lower half of the resorts and getting thinner on the ground higher up as well now. I was up at Hakuba 47 yesterday afternoon and noticed how (what seems like) suddenly it has dried up around the courses by the snow park and top part area of the Gondola.
The remaining resorts in Hakuba that are open plan to be so until the end of Golden Week - Monday 6th May - so less than two weeks to go now.
Official snow depths and operations @ Thursday 25th April 2013 AM:

Shiga Kogen Now!
Thursday 25th April 2013, 10:01am
Today, round about the time I am posting this actually (10am), the section of Route 292 road that connects Shiga Kogen with Kusatsu on the Gunma side re-opens after being closed for the season. This means that you can now get to Shiga Kogen from that side. Late season ice and snow events aside, it should be open now for all of the 'green season' up through until November. It makes for a great drive and highly recommended.
Temperatures have kept fairly low this week though the snow has continued to get thinner on the ground.
This morning we are treated to clear skies.
