Clear and sunny - hazy
Yesterday was a bit of a strange one - it ended up being very hazy and sort of clear and then we got some rain in the evening for a while there.
This morning starts off bright and hazy once again though sunny and clear conditions are on the forecast for the day. We start off with the temperature at around 13C as of 8:45am. Today was always going to be a warm one from the forecasts last week and it does look like we might see it warm up to around 20C later on - perhaps even a little higher.
Farmers spotted out and about in some fields yesterday as those fields finally become visible and they are able to start working in them. As of this morning, around our office in Minamiuonuma just to the north of Yuzawa, the snow has completely disappeared from the rice fields.
Rain tomorrow? Probable, but things should clear up again for the weekend.

Clear and sunny
Another clear morning here and a warm start - we are still likely to see the region warm up today as well as forecast. Nice clear blue skies all around this morning and Yotei is, as always, looking rather magnificent. There's just a slight breeze early on but later on in the day the wind may pick up.
We may see a bit of a dip in temps. tomorrow along with some strong winds and a chance of some spots of rain, but the weekend looks set to be clear, sunny and warm.
All of the scheduled lifts are moving as planned this morning at both Grand Hirafu and Annupuri.
A reminder that Niseko Village plans to re-open from Sunday for a last week through until the end of the Golden Week holidays. The Grand Hirafu gondola will also be moving on the dates shown below.

Beautiful spring day again in Minakami. Warm temperatures, blue skies and a light breeze. Snow is best in the morning still and softens up throughout the day. Still pretty good out there given the recent warm temperatures. Currently it is the ropeway and two lifts at the top open.
Very springlike forecast coming up. It is supposed to cloud up later today and possibly rain tomorrow. It should clear up Friday and be sunny through the weekend and into next week.
It's going to be a warm one. Almost hot, even. Right now in village it is about 14C and some local forecasts are predicting a high temp of around 23 or 24C today. Another hazy look to things from the village but the Goryu webcam shows a clearer picture up top. Good excuse to get out and up there perhaps! As if we need one.
Following on from what I said about the snow melting away from lower slopes, the snow is now getting thin on both 47 and Goryu as well - 47 are saying there are places where stones and bushes are on show on the lower to-base course and even being kind enough to remind people to perhaps not use new gear.... wouldn't want to get it scratched! Still lots of snow cover up top of course.
Tomorrow rain clouds are forecast to be with us and it won't be warm. Things should clear and warm up in time for the weekend though.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Wednesday 25th April 2012, 9:46am
From last week the forecasts were telling us to expect today in particular to be really warm. And it still looks like that is going to happen. Early on even it was 10C up on the top of the resort and it's about 12C in the village. It might warm up to close on 20C today. Poka-poka, as they say!
A bit of a cool down probably tomorrow, along with a chance of rain, but looking forward to the weekend it should be clear, sunny and warming up once again.
Golden Week. The last stretch of the season. Basically for those who don't know, it's a run of national holidays all bunched up together. This year, next Monday is one of those. As are Thursday and Friday (and Saturday) of next week. So this means that many people will be having two long weekends. Some might even be lucky enough to have the Tuesday and Wednesday off as well in the middle there. I think we can expect Nozawa to be pretty lively over Golden Week, especially the long weekend bits. It's the last chance of the season, so hope you can come and enjoy it here.

As I mentioned yesterday, the road connecting Shiga Kogen with Gunma is scheduled to be open today... in about 10 minutes time actually, though by the time that this report actually gets posted it is probably already 10am!
It's a warm morning here and destined to be very warm. Later on this afternoon we might even see it approach 20C in places. Phew. Tomorrow will cool things down a bit and if we are unlucky we might be rained on as well, before conditions clearing up again in time for the weekend. I'll update you on that later on Friday.
