Rain on and off yesterday for most of the day and into the night and this morning early on it is still wet. There is a fair bit of fog around on the mountains as well, so visibility is low in places. The forecast is for cloud so we can expect it to clear up though it should still be a relatively chilly day compared to the last week - with a high of around 12 this afternoon.
It looks like the weather should be sunny tomorrow (chance of strong winds) and then cloud/rain on Sunday. Read more ...

The sun is back out this morning but temperatures have dropped, it is currently 5degrees C in the village and 0degrees C at the top of the resort.
Winds are moderate, up to 30km/h at the top of the resort but at this moment the top lift, King#4 is in operation.
The forecast for the weekend is still looking good, with light snow predicted from Saturday night into Sunday. Maybe the last time we see winter conditions this season.
It's a very foggy morning up there with very poor visibility and as such the resort is not yet open... if things clear up a bit there is a chance that they may open the lifts as usual. Cloudy and not as warm as it has been as well this morning, just 1 degree up there. Read more ...

Rain and fog
Misty rain this morning with fog on the mountain. The lifts are open but the viz is low until the afternoon. Good low temps are keeping the snow in place up top, but overall, the melting's pretty fast.
The pick for today is Seki Onsen. 2+ metres left but melting fast.
Your Myoko area levels for today: 60cm (Akakura Kanko Resort); 50cm (Akakura Onsen); 220cm (Seki Onsen)
Things are a bit cooler today with a high temperature in the 15 degree region along with wet conditions. It looks like tomorrow should see the fine weather returning however.
The last few weeks really has seen some warm temperatures with people in t-shirts and the cherry blossoms out some two weeks or so earlier than usual. The snow has been disappearing faster than predicted and as such the resort has announced that they will be closing a week earlier than planned, with the final day of the season now being Tuesday 29th April. So only 4 more days left to the season.......
On May 3-6th there will be (free) snow groomer and snowmobile rides at the top of the Furano zone which sounds like fun and the ropeway will be in operation on those days (round trip 1000 yen). After that the ropeway will be open again for the hiking season in early June. Read more ...
