Blue sky, bit of cloud
Morning from Yuzawa and it's going to be another fine day here. It felt really warm in the afternoon in particular yesterday with beautiful blue skies and feel-good sunshine. Real t-shirt weather.
Warm overnight too keeping in double digits.
And more of the same looks likely for today.
Sun is forecast over the weekend as well, perhaps not quite as warm tomorrow, but you won't need the thermals!
Official snow depths: ** General opening plans - any unplanned closures will be mentioned in the above report **
GALA Yuzawa: Official snow depth of 180cm. The Central Area and most of the North Area. The South Area is now closed. The downhill course is also now closed - get down back to base using the Gondola.
Kagura: Official snow depth of 310cm. All three main areas of Kagura remain pretty much fully open.
Planned closing dates for resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma region Information as currently available and of course subject to change depending on conditions. Resorts not mentioned below are now closed.
Open until Wednesday May 6th:
- Naeba (*closed on weekdays, open ONLY on weekends and holidays [except April 29th]) - GALA Yuzawa - Kagura (Tashiro)
It'a more of the same this morning with blue skies and sun from early morning with warm conditions.
This stretch of weather should continue over the weekend too.
There may be more cloud around tomorrow and it might not be as warm, but we'll be back to temperatures possibly hitting 20 degrees on Sunday.

The Nagasaka link connecting course is now not open, and so if you are using the lower Rinkan, Utopia, Schneider courses on the left side of the mountain you will need to get a shuttle bus back from that base area to the Nagasaka Gondola.
I have to post this report early before there's full information available, but I would expect top lifts to be affected. Niseko Grand Hirafu already actually seem to be saying that the two King lifts will be on hold due to the wind but they plan to get the Ace Number 3 lift moving as a 'replacement'. No word yet from Annupuri.
So yes it's generally cloudy with a spot of rain possible this afternoon.
Hopefully we'll get back to clearer skies and sun for the weekend - and less wind - and the forecasts seem to be giving a good chance of that happening.
Look for a real warm up starting around Monday, when temperatures may start approaching 20 degrees at base.
Planned resort operations for the rest of the season - weather conditions may mean changes on any given day, but these are the plans!

Partly cloudy today; looks like sunny days ahead
Just a quick note before we enter another weekend - just a few more ahead!
And things have changed a lot in the few days since the last Now! report.
We've got cherry blossoms blooming on the roads leading up to the resort, blue skies for the weekend and a lot less snow.
There is still plenty out there, but spring is definitely here at last. What could be better: warm winds, blue skies, and white snow. Nice to see the big crowds the last weekends, and hopefully a lot of people will be out for the party in the coming days.
Akakura Kanko: 150cm, 12° Open through May 5. Myokokogen Sky Cable gondola and No. 3 lift
