Some big news to report from Kagura this morning - Kagura is extending the season and now plans to be open until 31st May.
The resort plans for the whole of the main course (1300m) to be open until 24th May, with perhaps just the middle/bottom part (using the Kagura No1 pair lift, 600m) of that course open from the 25th until 31st.
The Giant Course and Gondola Course are now closed, leaving only the Main Gelende at Kagura open.
Quite remarkable considering the relative low snowfalls this season if you ask me!
It looks like it will be a fine day after some early cloud and strong winds and currently 9 degrees at Kagura. Fine weather is also forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday.
PLEASE NOTE: We will continue to make updates to this Naeba Now! page a few times a week, but from now on until the end of the season at Kagura the daily reporting from the Yuzawa area of Niigata will move over to the Yuzawa Now! report section, so remember to check out that page as well for the latest. Shiga Kogen Now!

We had some rain over the weekend but that has now cleared up and this morning the sun is out and blue skies on view - should be a fine day.
At the moment Yokoteyama resort is still hoping to be open at least until this coming Sunday (24th May) - and possibly beyond, depending on snow conditions. Temperatures have kept relatively low for mid-May but the snow is getting noticeably thinner on the ground now.
Earlier this morning we had some rather sudden strong winds in the region - even affecting public transport in some areas of Niigata. That seems to have calmed down now and the sun is out making way for a fine day with a high temperature of around 21 degrees on the forecast.
This was mentioned in the Naeba Now report this morning but the Kagura resort has announced that it is extending the season and now plans to be open until 31st May. The resort plans for the whole of the main course (1300m) to be open until 24th May, with perhaps just the middle/bottom part (using the Kagura No1 pair lift, 600m) of that course open from the 25th until 31st.
