Niseko Now!

Sunday 17th April 2016, 8:41am
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 50cm
It's not going to be a particularly nice day today by the looks of things.

Rain forecast for the day and winds getting stronger as the day progresses as well and while the wind has not affected lifts at the start of the day it is likely that they will later on.

Wet and windy - my two fave things! (Not, actually).

Hopefully by tomorrow the rain will have eased off and things will start to be calmer as well.

Might there even be a bit of snow to report tomorrow morning on the upper slopes? We shall see.

Hakuba Now!

Sunday 17th April 2016, 8:45am
Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 0cm
Good morning from Hakuba.

It's not the best though this morning with light rain falling at the moment and warm conditions... already 12 degrees and it has apparently been close to that through the night as well. Temperatures forecast to rise to around 19 degrees at base today.

What's more, the rain is going to continue and some strong winds on mountain as well.

The weather means that even if you wanted to get out there onto the slopes, the lifts are closed at all four of the resorts that remain open.

A day for the onsen or a trip to Nagano city I reckon!

If the sun is not back tomorrow it should be by Tuesday.

Yuzawa Now!

Sunday 17th April 2016, 8:54am
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 0cm
Hello from Yuzawa.

It was warm overnight and the temperature now at close to 9am is similar... about 16 degrees.

Some rain this morning but hopefully it will clear up sooner than later.

It's windy though this morning which is affecting lifts.

GALA Yuzawa is closed today due to the strong winds, but they have also announced that they will be closed tomorrow as well due to maintanence that will be needed. Course conditions will have been affected by the winds and further melting of snow, so they will be taking the time to try and get things back to a decent condition once this particular chunk of weather moves on.

Kagura has announced that from tomorrow the Mitsumata area will officially become a 'connecting course' to Kagura... which basically means that it's only to be used to get to Kagura, and to get back to the Mitsumata Ropeway. Most of the rest of Kagura remains open/available.
