Sun, some cloud
After a few days of rainy conditions, it eased off yesterday afternoon but this morning the sun is out, we have blue skies and just a few clouds up there. It is warmer as well and a high of around 18 degrees is likely later on in the day and we will probably have similar conditions tomorrow.
It's not in Yuzawa, but the Okutadami resort to the north of the Yuzawa area near the town of Koide plans to be open until tomorrow.

Hakuba is now in green mode as the last of the ski resorts have closed for the season.
This winter season was a real return to the classic days of big snow in Hakuba. Lots of huge snowfalls and many many epic powder days to recall. With good late season dumps even in late March the people that stuck around were treated to powder and little crowds on many of the resorts in Hakuba.
We now are looking forward to a nice spring and summer season here it the Northern Japan Alps, getting out on mountain bikes, playing in the lakes and rivers and hiking in the alpine peaks. Since the snowfall was quite a lot this winter we expect the snowfields to linger late into the summer. Hiking up high will definitely be on some snow until it really warms up, those intrepid skiers and riders can still get turns atop Tsugaike in the Shizenyen and Norikura areas, as well as on Daisuke snowfield. Canyoning season has started and will be wild and wet until October.
Happo-One, Hakuba-47, Goryu and Tsugaike have their gondolas open for hiking in the summer and the views atop the peaks are spectacular on clear days. One can also hike from hut to hut in the summer and fall season. Hakuba-47 also is planning to have their MTB trails open and are planning a few events over the green season.
Summer Gondolas in Hakuba:
Happo - the Hakuba Alpen line (Gondola and two quads) is open from 15th May until 3rd November.
Hakuba 47 - the Gondola will be open from 17th July until 31st August
Goryu - the Gondola will be operating daily from 16th June until 3rd November. The top lift will also be operating every day from 19th June until 31st August and then on Saturdays and holidays (and 24th Sept) from 4th September until 11th October.
Tsugaike Kogen - the Gondola will be operating from 20th May until 3rd November.
So for all you snow lovers, get out and enjoy the fun of the off" season in the Japan Alps, train up for next season and keep fingers crossed for an even better snowy winter in Hakuba!
