I kid you not, there was over 10cm of freshies out there on the slopes yesterday and close-on whiteout conditions to boot!
Around 5cm or so in the village as well yesterday.
This morning early on it is just cloudy and that's mostly what the forecast says for the day, or rather clearing up and fine conditions for the day...
The following lifts plan to remain open through until 6th May:
All the Ropeways Chuo Number 1 Pair AB (every day) Chuo Number 2 Pair AB (every day until 14th April, then 20th/21st April and 27th April until 6th May) Katakai Triple (every day until 14th April, then 20th/21st April, 27th-29th April, 3rd-6th May) Paradise Pair AB (every day until 14th April, then 20th/21st April and 27th April until 6th May) The Yokokura Number 1 Pair AB will remain open as long as there's enough snow.
We have had a few short blasts of winter since my last report (see the Yuzawa Now reports for regular updates) with new snow gracing the Kagura runs making for some sometimes refreshed conditions. It's always a bonus when we get this in April.
Today the sun is out from early on and there has been another light dusting overnight. That will soon dry up no doubt though it won't get too warm today. Tomorrow should start off similarly and it is forecast to get warmer than today as well.
Kagura still reporting 350cm of snow.
Official resort snow depth: Kagura - 350cm
Planned closing dates: Kagura (Tashiro Ropeway) - May 6th Kagura (Mitsumata Ropeway) - May 26th
Lots of cloud around this morning but breaks in them as well. For now early on things are nice and calm and I would imagine planned lifts will be open this Saturday morning.
Rain might happen later on in the day though and overnight into tomorrow... possibly more snow at higher elevations?
There may be leftovers of that into tomorrow morning, along with stronger winds forecast.
Going back to what I mentioned yesterday, my good friend was out there on Thursday and reporting some really nice almost-deep conditions on the mountain. Up to 20cm or so in places? Nice weather conditions by the sound of things as well. Not bad for the getting on for the middle of April!

Mostly clear blue skies
Today is going to be a fine day I predict. Not only with the weather - lovely clear blue skies - but also the fine new layer of snow.
It was good to see some new snow low down at village and the lower slopes white once again, for however short a period of time. The snow down here in village has almost gone from where I am now near Happo and it will quickly disappear from those lower runs as well.... but it's great to see. (Obviously!)
So, what about higher up on those mountains? Well, the only official numbers that I can find so far are from the Hakuba 47 resort, who are reporting 15cm of fresh snow up by R3. Not bad at all! Sounds like a good place to head for this morning.
As I mentioned, nice blue skies and just a few fluffy clouds here and there. Temps will probably rise to around 10 degrees today. Sun again tomorrow along with warmer conditions.

Skies were cloudy and cold overnight as an additional layer of 3-5cm of fresh snow blanketed the town. While a snow event this late into April is not exactly a rare event, it does prove that Old Man Winter is not quite done with us yet. Up on the slopes, you can still ski from top to bottom with no problems - a testament to just how long this winter has lingered.
However, Spring is just around the corner, and that means swift changes ahead. If you're thinking of getting in a few runs before the season ends next month, today might be the day. Calm, mostly cloudy skies with relatively cool temperatures with a few snow flurries or even light rain showers here and there are in the forecast. Tomorrow, the real rain moves in and we will see temperatures rise into the positive double digits. Read more ...

Sunny, blue skies
The snow may well have almost gone from all of the near-village bottom runs, but we are still getting a bit of new up top and overnight the resort once again reported 5cm of fresh snowfall up on Yamabiko and Uenotaira areas. (Perhaps that really will be the last blast of the season?)

A quick update for you....
It has been a nice sunny day in Myoko today, with a little extra fresh white stuff on top of the 10cm or so that fell Thursday.
It's staying cool, too - the snow is really trying to hold on there!
