G'day from sunny Furano
Well, this morning it was 1C in Kitanomine Village at the base of the resort, with fog or low cloud obscuring the resort above the grassy piste area near the gondola building.
But now the fog and cloud has largely burned off and there is snow up higher on the resort's ski area.
Furano does need a wet snow base to hold its depth throughout the season but this current snowfall might not be it -- forecast to warm up, will probably melt off. But who knows - the only definite with Central Hokkaido weather is that it will change.
PHOTO 1 is Furano resort taken from the Furano JR train station at about midday today. PHOTO 2 is Tokachidake in the other direciton, taken from the Furano pedestrian overpass at the train station.
Looking at the television forecast, we will have sunny mornings tomorrow and Saturday, and rain Sunday. Low forecast overnight is minus four Celcius. Yikes.
