After a weekend of generally fine and warm weather, today started off with a lot of cloud early on but while there is still a fair amount of cloud around the sun it out and it is warming up.... might reach around 25 degrees in Yuzawa around lunchtime today.
It's 12 degrees up at Kagura with only a slight breeze so fine spring conditions up there.
With the snow fast melting from the slopes in the Mitsumata area, those courses are now closed and so a bus is taking skiers and snowboarders from the top Mitsumata Ropeway station to the Kagura Gondola. From there you take the Gondola up to the main courses at Kagura.
The courses open at Kagura are the Main Gelende, Technical Course, Giant Course and the Gondola Course.
The resort still has 190cm as the official snow depth, but it is surely less than that by now.... getting fairly thin on the ground in places.
More sunny weather lined up for tomorrow with a chance of cloud on Wednesday. Read more ...

Just Yokoteyama and Shibutoge remain open now - Yokoteyama with an official snow depth of 100cm. Two lifts at Yokoteyama are moving (the No 2 and No 3 Sky triple and pair lifts) as well as the one Shibutoge pair lift, with four of the runs open including the 2km No 2 Course at Yokoteyama.
The last few days has seen the temperatures rise and some very fine weather in the region. More of the same today.
No word yet on how long the resorts will remain open, but perhaps another week or so....?
From today, the Mistumata slopes are officially closed (very little snow left there now) and riders will be taken to the Kagura Gondola from the Mitsumata Ropeway top station by a (free) shuttle bus. More info on the Yuzawa Now page, link below...
PLEASE NOTE: We will continue to make updates to this Naeba Now! page a few times a week, but from now on until the end of the season at Kagura the daily reporting from the Yuzawa area of Niigata will move over to the Yuzawa Now! report section, so remember to check out that page as well for the latest.
