Kiroro Now!

Saturday 11th April 2015, 7:19am
Weather conditions: Bluebird
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 190cm
Spring just keeps on putting it on for Kiroro another fantastic morning.

We have once again a crystal clear morning up here, with temperatures sitting at around freezing, making sure that snow has firmed up overnight and been groomed to perfection. With a chance it might cloud over later in the day we may be looking at not so slushy conditions in the afternoon but as it is quite sunny at the moment it could go either way.

As it is the weekend the Kiroro Gondola will be opening today, which opens up some decent long runs.

Couple of events on at Kiroro today with the Skill Up Spring Sessions happening so if you feel like checking that out it will be going down on Center and the side of Yoichi where a nice looking kicker set up has been sculpted especially for this event.

Enjoy!   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Saturday 11th April 2015, 8:01am
Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 70cm
Light rain is falling early on this morning I'm afraid, though it looks like it should be stopping fairly soon and leaving us with just cloudy skies. I'm not hearing any reports of any snowfall by the way.

There's some thick cloud hanging around some upper mountain areas at the moment and poor visibility but perhaps that will also improve quite quickly this morning. A high of around 8 degrees is forecast for the village today, so not warming up that much.

Tomorrow will be warmer with a good chance of sun and clear skies in the morning.

Minakami Now!

Saturday 11th April 2015, 8:18am
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 330cm
Morning from Minakami and we're really into the last bit of the season now with only Tenjindaira remaining open and spring activity ramping up down in the town and valleys.

There's still a lot of snow still left up there (official snow depth still above 3m) so if you are looking for some spring time fun there's still a lot to be had.

It's a cloudy start to the day here with rain forecast for tonight and into tomorrow.

Clearer weather is forecast for Sunday.

Planned closing dates of ski resorts in Minakami (subject to change):

Until early May
Tanigawa Tenjindaira

Note that the Tenjin Toge pair lift at Tenjindaira will be closed now on weekdays through until Friday 24th April. The reason being that the lift is used for tourism in the 'green season' and they need to prepare it for those operations. It does seem a long time to be closed for that, but that's what it says here! That lift being closed does limit things on weekdays, so do keep in mind if you are planning on visiting.

All other resorts are now closed for the season.   Read more ...

It was raining last night and into early this morning though it has stopped for the moment - hopefully not but it might be back with clearing skies due tomorrow morning with perhaps some sunshine to warm us up.

There doesn't seem to be any sign of snow unfortunately... not that I think anyway has really been expecting...

The official site currently shows that the Hikage Number 2 pair lift is also moving today, can't confirm that with a sighting myself though personally I would recommend anyone coming to hear up to the higher slopes.
