Welcome back to Furano Now.
As the snow disappeared after winter the town was left looking rather brown and barren. The new green growth of spring quickly dominated and down jackets soon gave way to t-shirts. Summer was relatively cool this year and unfortuantely very wet with a lot of rainy days.
Autumn is well and truly here now with the mountains a beautiful patchwork canvas of green, gold and red. Along with Autumn comes the cooler mornings. Heaters are now being used in the morning and evening, a sure sigh that winter is just around the corner.
The Kitanomine quad chairs were loaded and tested last week. The gondolas were also loaded and tested and provided a sight that had been absent on the mountain for a few months.
This morning Mt Tokachidake across the valley was well and truly coated with snow; a beautiful sight set against the background of a clear blue sky. The air in the village was crisp and cool with Kitanomine around 5deg. at 8:30am. It was your classic late Autumn morning.
We can expect the first taste of negative temperatures next week and the first snow falls in the resort should be here in less than 4 weeks.
