Finally Baron Von Dumpenhausen is back in town. The snow started getting heavier in the evening yesterday and this morning it's been dumping very heavily times. I'd say we've had at least 30cm fall so far with much more accumulating on lee slopes. The snow is set to continue through much of the day so plenty more to come yet. In more exposed areas you'll still feel a hard base under the new snow but out in the gullies through the gates it's going to be deep with bottomless turns to be had. Nothing better than that feeling of just floating down through powder. Get out there and enjoy it!!

Avalanche Information:

Peak gates are scheduled to open around 10am, but is subject to lift operation and weather conditions. Outside the gates is not managed or patrolled like within the resort boundaries, just a pure winter mountainous area. Having the gates open does not mean in any sense that it is safe to go out. Be conscious of the various dangers and the risks you’re taking before you step out of the gates. Annupuri peak 6am: -15℃, SW9m/s. Annupuri 800m: -11℃, SW5m/s. The snow & wind that picked up from last night has left 20cm of fresh snow at the base of the mountain. The new snow is a mixture of small graupels and small-rimed crystal snow. The wind shifted from a strong 20m/s NW between 8 and 10pm, to westerly 12-15m/s later in the night. Some snowdrifts of up to 30cm is found in high altitude and is sitting on top of a low density layer. Avalanche risk is considerable in typical avalanche terrains, namely the Backbowl, Osawa, Higashi-One cornice areas and other leeward slopes of more than 30°gradient. Be cautious and enjoy safely.
