Well it just keeps getting better and better. Since last report we've had around another 30-40cm of snowfall. About 10-15cm yesterday morning which was followed by a brief bluebird afternoon and then another 20-25cm overnight. The mountain is definitely not crowded now and there were plenty of fresh tracks to be found all over the mountain for most of the day. In more exposed areas and lower down the crusty base can still be felt on some turns but higher up I had up to hip deep, bottomless turns this morning. There's been some light snow showers throughout the day and it's remained cold keeping the snow in great condition. For those of us here all year these are the conditions we wait for all winter, good powder and few others to share it with!!
Plenty more snow is forecast to start coming through early tomorrow morning and into Thursday from the big low pressure system moving it's way up from Honshu where it's dumping currently. Another low will approach the region on Friday and at this stage it'll be getting pretty mild ahead of it with possible rain at village level. Cooler air should move in fairly quickly though and it will be snow throughout again by Saturday.
