Blizzard conditions continued through much of yesterday though most of the new snow that fell has likely been blown right across the island into the Pacific. This morning it has cleared with only scattered clouds but the wind is still very strong and only lower lifts are currently operational. Australian visitors should feel right at home with a rock solid icy base and only a little spindrift snow scuttling across the slopes. Some protected gullies and lee slopes will have experienced some drifting but if you do manage to get off piste anywhere take care as the snow will be uneven and hard, unforgiving ice not far below the surface.

Today is expected to remain mostly fine but tomorrow will see the temperature soar to well over freezing as another low pressure system approaches from the west. The day will end with some rain at first which will turn back to snow on Tuesday.
