Good morning everyone from my base here in Hirafu.

There were more than a few people out there yesterday enjoying the fine weather with periods of blue sky and sunshine.

And what do we have to report this morning... let me see. No fresh snowfall again of course and it is was an overcast and calm start to the day. More blue sky has been appearing with more of that and sunshine expected throughout the day. It is about -3C here just now and it should remain under zero even with the sunshine.

Fine weather is all very nice but we want (and need) fresh snow and I'm quietly excited to see that the forecasts for the coming week are looking very promising. (And not only for Niseko either but lots of areas of Japan). Let's hope that it happens, big style! Steady snowfall is forecast over the week starting from tomorrow, and there might be stormy blizzard like conditions on the way as well - particularly around Wednesday. I don't like strong winds, but I'll gladly take them if it means a major delivery of fresh snow.

I'm looking forward to reporting all that lot to you soon.

In the meantime, have a fun day.

Niseko Avalanche Report:
Niseko base 6am: -4℃, no snowfall. Moiwa850m: -8℃, mild wind, no snowfall, 20cm of snowdrift from yesterday. Annupuri 1150m: -10℃, N10m/s, snowdrift development. Hirafu1200m: -10℃, N10m/s, light snowfall and snowdrifts. Kamui cape lighthouse: mild wind, 1020hPa, 1.2m waves.

No new snow and the out of bounds area is tracked out, however the snow stays soft as the temperature variation stayed small. The general avalanche risk is low.

Annupuri Gate 7 will open today. Follow the instruction and enter “Aee-Sawa” from the gate. However the area is already ruined thanks to all the violators. Bushes are still thick in the out of bounds area and tricky to come back in. Beware of collisions, slipdrops and falling into stream holes.

There are more people entering the strictly off-limits areas of Yu no sawa and Haru no Taki to seek fresh lines. We strongly demand everyone to acknowledge the gist of the Niseko Rules and respect them. The freedom to ride out of bounds is only protected by having the Rules in place. Violators will be severely punished. Any ropes shall not be crossed.

The groomers are in a fantastic condition today.
