A brief couple of snow showers yesterday but overall it remained mostly fine. Today is much the same. It's partly cloudy with a bit of sun now and then and the possibility of a couple of light snow showers.
The system moving up the eastern side of Honshu which is currently bringing snow to low levels around Yokohama and Tokyo will move up to the east of Hokkaido tomorrow. This should get the winds coming out of the right direction for good snowfalls right through into the weekend.
Nice day up on the hill today with good snow to be found still out through the gates.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 385
Bottom - 180

Niseko Village:
Top - 380
Bottom - 180

Annupuri:
Top - 370
Bottom - 200

Avalanche Information:

All gates are scheduled to open, peak gates at 9:30 am. Please follow the ski patrol's instructions. Annupuri peak 6am: -12 ℃, average wind W 6m / s. Annupuri 800m: -8 ℃, WSW 4m / s. Very slight overnight snowfall. The wind above 1100m has stagnated around 15m / s westerly and slowly calming down from around dawn. There are no drastic developments of snowdrifts and yesterday's tracks aren't recovered. High altitude slopes are affected by the wind, rugged, crusty but with patches of slightly packed thick wind-drifts. Surface snow has refrozen in south facing and low elevation slopes. Instability factors in the snowpack is diminishing, however many slopes are in a tricky skiing condition. Whether there are many tracks left, outside the gates is not the ski resort anymore. There are no signs or patrol. You are responsible to know the terrain and how to come back. Just following tracks will not necessarily take you to a desired place.
