Light snowfalls continued through much of yesterday adding another 5-10cm and keeping surface conditions pretty nice. Overnight it cleared and temperatures dropped back to -12 in the valley.
There's a low pressure system moving up from the SW today and this morning it's overcast with snow starting to fall. Although the heaviest precipitation from this system will likely move through more eastern Hokkaido it looks like we'll still get some reasonable amounts over the next 24 hours. Strong winds though will also develop as the system moves through and tomorrow it is likely upper lifts will be on wind hold again.
The peak gates will be open today so get up there before the gales hit the region later.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 210cm
Bottom - 110cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 220cm
Bottom - 140cm

Annupuri:
Top - 205cm
Bottom - 140cm

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.20

Moiwa base 6am: -6℃, 5cm of crystal shape snowflakes over the past 12 hours. The Sea of Japan is calm.
Avalanche risk is relatively low today.
12m/s NNE wind is predicted at Annupuri peak at noon.
The snow surface in eastern slopes in Hanazono area that was crusty due to wind effect is gradually changing into better condition.
Soft snow layer is thin, but relatively comfortable to ride. However, conditions are much better in the trees in the lower half of the mountain and the groomers conditions are beautiful this morning.
Peak gates will open from 9:00am.
Do not ignore the ropes and nets, anyone that deliberately enters into strictly offlimits areas will have their lift pass confiscated.
The minimum safety of out of bounds riding is being secured by respecting the Rules. Listen to the ski patrol’s opinion.
Blindly following somebody’s tracks without knowing where it’s heading is not a very wise idea. You could end up being lost in the woods.
Cracks are starting to form in leeward steep slopes, be careful not to fall into crevasses. They are difficult to see from above.
The weather is forecasted to turn bad from this afternoon, beware of sudden changes.
