Yesterday mornings snow turned into rather heavy rain by early evening going through much of the night before turning to snow before sunrise this morning. It's still snowing now and being blown around too, but I would say there has been perhaps a few new cm of snow so far. Hopefully while the winds do their thing we will get some decent snowfall during the day today.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a severe weather warning for Hokkaido today as it looks as if Japans worst spring storm in a long time that has been battering Kyushu and Honshu moves north. We can expect very high winds over the next 24 hours and be prepared for many lift closures, currently most of the lifts are on standby with only the Ace family pair and Ace No1 lifts operating although talk is of the Holiday Pair lift 1 starting soon. Over at Niseko Village it looks like the Banzai and Community lifts have been moving. Lift operations will likely be changing with conditions, so best to check with the resorts for the latest. That's if you really want to get out there today - it's pretty wild and I'm not sure how much fun it would be personally!

Snowfall is forecast for tomorrow as well, though with less wind hopefully more of the resorts will be open from early on.
