Yesterday remained fine with plenty of sunshine and it looks set to continue today. The peak gates openened yesterday and by all accounts some incredible turns were to be had by those who made the trek up. Some of the lower slopes exposed to the sun may have a bit of a crust today but higher up in the bowls there should still be plenty of fresh turns in good powder to be found. The snow won't be quite as deep as it was which probably isn't such a bad thing. It will get quite mild today with temps getting up to around 3 degrees at village level. Our guests from Hong Kong though here for the Chinese New Year holidays will be happy. Amazingly enough they actually don't like it when it's snowing!!

Avalanche Information:

Annupuri peak 6am: W9.1m / s, -8 ℃. Annupuri 800m: W5.7m / s, -5 ℃. No overnight snowfall. A westerly wind has been blowing relatively strongly above 1000m since yesterday, scuffing the fresh snow from windward slopes resulting in rugged wind rippled surface in some areas. In opposite, wind-affected packed snow-slabs have formed in leeward slopes and the avalanche risk is still to be highly considered in high altitude leeward steep slopes such as the Backbowl and Osawa's sidewalls. Better not traverse across slopes right under cornices. The temperature is forecasted to rise from today. Combined with the sun-effect, it will accelerate the snowcreep in sun-exposed low altitude valleys and increase the stress within the snow. Mind of the changing condition . Be careful of heavy snow-blocks falling from trees. All gates are scheduled to open this morning, gates 2 & 3 at 10:30.
