Just cloudy-overcast feel to the start of the day today here in Niseko, and for once I don't have any fresh snow to report!

It's noticeably not as cold as well this morning and only a light wind. We might even get to see some sunshine at times today and tomorrow. There's a chance of a light dusting of snow overnight but nothing major. Back to snowy conditions from around Tuesday maybe...

There's not much else to report this morning really with resorts looking to be open as planned. So enough reporting, and time to get the skis on and get out there myself!

Until tomorrow.

Niseko Avalanche Report

Moiwa base: -4C, mild wind and no snowfall. Moiwa 800m: -6C, WSW5m/s, no snowfall and moderate development of snowdrifts. Annupuri 1000m: -7C, W12m/s, light development of snowdrifts and 185cm snowpack depth. Hirafu 1000m: -8C, mild wind, no snowfall. Coastal data: Benkei cape W6m/s, Kamui cape SW15m/s, 1018hPa, 1.3m waves.

Atmospheric pressure gradient is small and the mountain is in a calm condition. Occasional gusts are carrying snow and developing snowdrifts in some areas. No overnight snowfall. The powder snow around the courses are mostly tracked out, but please refrain from ducking ropes to seek fresh snow. One track left under the ropes will lead many others to do the same and increase the chance of accidents to happen. Out of bounds riding is only tolerated when accessed from the gates; violator’s lifts passes will be confiscated and will be banned from further using the resort facilities. The groomers are in excellent condition, great day for carving around on piste, but beware of overspeeding and loosing control. Gates 4, 5, 6 and 10 will open from the morning. Seek some advice from the ski patrol at the gates. The new Niseko Rules’ leaflet is available at the ticket offices and can be used as a map. Have a nice day.
