Avalanche Information:
(Information as of this morning)

Niseko Avalanche Info No.72

Moiwa base 6am: -3℃, no snowfall, clear and sunny.
Coastal data: SSE8m/s at Benkei cape, SSW12m/s, 1.3m waves and 1015hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak: WSW18.3m/s, 0℃, predicted wind at noon, 20m/s SW.
The wind above 1000m has stagnated between 18-20m/s for the past 12 hours, resulting in hard crust slopes and some unstable deposit of windblown snow.
Hazards of shallow surface slab slides are persisting.
Gate 2, 3 and 4 will be kept closed today. Other gates opening will depend on lift operation. Respect the ski patrol’s instructions.
Powder cannot be found below 800m and the snow condition is pretty bad.
This season’s overall snow accumulation in Osawa and Backbowl is very big and possibilities of full-layer avalanche (from the ground level) are rising in those areas. These massive slides occurring from ridge line around 1000m are extremely destructive, mixing rocks, mud and ice blocks, running along the gully bottom in high-speed reaching as far as Annupuri resort’s junior course. It is strongly recommend to avoid riding the gully bottoms.
Playing in natural halfpipes could be very dangerous as you’re placing yourself in the avalanche path.
The mountain is temporarily shifting to spring conditions but winter will soon come back.
Do not seek fresh line in strictly off limits areas.
Beware of trees and crevasses.
