Heavy snow and gale force winds continued yesterday into the early afternoon. The wind then started to abate and only snow showers passed over the region through the night. This morning though the snow is back in force and more reasonably heavy falls are expected throughout the day. The wind is much lighter and the snow falling is great quality this morning. This snowfall is from another weak low pressure system moving in from the west and a little milder air will move in as the day progresses. Expect the temp to get near freezing later in the afternoon and the snow will get a little heavier. Temps though will drop back well below freezing tonight.
The peak gates including gate 4 are likely to remain closed today as avalanche danger below Higashi One ridge remain very high and will need another day or so to stabilize.
Numbers in the village are starting to drop off significantly so finding fresh lines out there shouldn't be a problem.
Tomorrow is expected to be mostly fine at this stage although there may be a few snow showers clearing in the morning. Beyond that more snow is expected mid week and next weekend.
