Nothing much to report. It has remained fine and reasonably mild since yesterday just dipping down to freezing overnight and although this morning started out quite sunny it is now overcast. It's expected to start cooling down later in the day with snow developing in the evening. With snowfalls expected on and off throughout much of the coming week we should see conditions improve greatly.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 395
Bottom - 190

Niseko Village:

Avalanche Information:

Peak gates are scheduled to open as the peak lifts starts running. The atmospheric pressure gradient is shelving and the prevailing NW wind in high altitude is forecasted to calm down and making the temperature rise in all elevation. The surface is crusty in many places. The snow in the trees also has a thin crust, catching the skis in, tricky condition until around 10am. Remain in controllable speed and beware of hitting trees. Large-scale avalanche risk is rising at this time of the season when the temperature difference during the day is large. Extra caution is required when riding in terrains with past full-depth avalanche records, such as Osawa, Kozan no sawa (Backbowl), Anupuri west face, Higashi-One. Also, looking at this season’s snowfall transition, giant slides are likely to occur as the slope starts to crack. These avalanches are extremely devastating and run through a long distance. Carefully choose your touring route and avoid remaining in the valley bottoms. Annupuri peak 6am: NW16.1m/s, -8.1℃. Coastal data: NW13m/s at Benkei cape. Please follow the ski patrol’s instructions and always use the gates to step out of ski resort boundaries.
