Yesterday remained mostly fine until the evening when it started snowing lightly again. Temperatures remained quite mild though barely getting below freezing at village level and the snow that fell was pretty wet. This morning there is still some very light wet snow falling but it is expected to mostly fine up until later this afternoon when heavier precipitation will move back across the region. This will occur as another warm front moves up from down south bringing very mild air with it. There might be some snow at first but as the warmer air moves up it will turn to rain right up to and above the peak. Tonight is expected to be a wild night with fairly heavy rain and very strong winds.
The milder air will remain until later on Sunday when we should see cooler air return with snowfalls.

Avalanche Information:
(Information as of this morning)

Niseko Avalanche Info No.95

Moiwa base 6am:-1℃, 3cm of wet snow from 3am.
Coastal data: W6m/s at Benkei cape, SW14m/s, 1.4m waves and 1003hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak: 0℃, WSW8.5m at 6am, predicted to pick up to SW20m/s at noon.
The atmospheric pressure gradient is shelving and the wind is calm, but wet snow & wind is predicted to pick up above 1000m from before noon.
Sudden warm up and rain could trigger a full depth slide, as well as a shallow wet snow avalanche.
The weather is forecasted to turn bad.
Peak gates are scheduled to open at 9:30, however it is recommended not to go out.
If you do, do it quickly and finish early. Seek for the ski patrol’s advice.
Possibility of a surface slab slide from Mar 19th layer will rise with the future snowfall. If the temperature remains above 0℃ for a while, it could trigger a deep slab avalanche (2m+) in 1000m leeward slopes just below ridgeline (Osawa, Backbowl and Higashi-One) that could also induce a full depth (4m) slide. These kinds of slides run for 2km, 600m vertically and could reach as far as the Annupuri Junior course. Devastating, such as a glacier avalanche.
Acknowledge the danger and avoid riding the gully bottoms.
Beware of sudden weather changes.
