The mild air started moving in through the early hours of this morning and currently the temperature is up near 4 degrees at village level. There's been a little bit of drizzle around but nothing substantial and there's still plenty of people heading out on the slopes. It's still below freezing up higher on the mountain but conditions off-piste are not great and it looks like the resort will be keeping most gates closed. Winds up high are already reasonably strong and currently all top lifts around the resort are on wind hold.
Colder air is on it's way and will start moving across the region as the day progresses. Reasonably heavy snowfalls are expected tomorrow and continue on and off through much of the next week.
So not a great day for the powder hounds out there but conditions will improve rapidly from tomorrow.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.36

Moiwa base 6am: 0℃, no overnight snowfall.
Coastal data: SSW4m/s at Benkei cape, SSW26m/s, 2.8m waves and 1009 hp at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak wind: SE13.5m/s at 6am, predicted to pick up to WNW30m/s at noon.
Upper Mizuno no sawa wind: SW14m/s.
Warm air is flowing in below 1000m due to the approaching cold front, forming today’s surface into a slab. These hard slabs in south facing steep slopes/cornices could collapse and trigger an avalanche of 20cm or less.
The warm air will also help cracks to form/enlarge.
All gates, including gate 6 (Moiwa) and 7 (Ee-sawa), will close for the sake of all resort users.
Today is not a day to seek fresh snow in out of bounds areas.
The groomer condition is good in the morning.
Beware of sudden weather changes.
