Yesterday got quite mild getting up to around 7 degrees in the afternoon at village level. It stayed mild overnight with a minimum near 3 to 4 degrees and this morning there is a little drizzle about. Heavier rain is expected through the afternoon with strong winds as a warm front ahead of an approaching low passes over the region. As the low moves through tomorrow cooler air will be dragged down and we can expect some snow later in the evening into Saturday.

Looking back on March it was a good month for snow being the snowiest March since 2005 and we actually received more snow in March than we did in Feb getting up around 3m on the upper mountain. It was also a cool month, being the coldest since 1999. This all added up to plenty of powder days on an uncrowded mountain meaning plenty of fresh tracks. If you're put off at all about the peak season crowds and prices in Niseko then March truly is a great time to come. I certainly had some of the best days of the whole season this March. Total snowfall since November on the upper mountain has now exceeded 16m. This has got to put Niseko right up there as one of the snowiest ski resorts on the planet this season. Up near the peak the snowdepth has been recorded at over 5m meaning there's no shortage of snow to see us out for the remainder of the season.
