Hello and good morning.

No fresh snowfall to report this morning and the day is starting rather calm and overcast. Resorts are reporting thick fog up on higher elevations so limited visibility should be expected this morning so keep that in mind. As of 8:30am the top Jumbo lift at Annupuri is on hold due to the conditions, but other lifts appear to be opening as normal.

Some very light snow falling earlier on but that has stopped for now. Perhaps we will get some snow during the day today, but I wouldn't expect much from it and as it is relatively mild it's not going to be light and dry.

Without the fresh layer, things are tracked out and I would guess that the groomers should be in good condition.

Looking ahead in search of fresh thick blankets of fluffy goodness, the forecast seems to be showing regular snowfall from the weekend onwards and happily a return to colder conditions - particularly from Sunday.

Hurray!

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Niseko base 6am: 0℃, no snowfall. Moiwa800m: -5.9℃, E3.4m/s, Annupuri 1100m: -8.5℃, S2.7m/s, 92.6% humidity, thick fog. Hirafu 1250m: -9℃, mild wind and thick fog. Coastal data: Benkei cape S2m/s, Kamui cape SSW4m/s, 1014hPa, 1.0m waves.

A high pressure zone is lying in between two low pressure systems. The wind is calm and snowfall is scarce. A thick fog is present above 1100m elevation. Peak gates opening is to be confirmed. Please follow the ski patrol’s instructions. The general avalanche risk is low.

Lift accessible area is pretty much tracked out. A wet snow is forecasted to start falling as the next low pressure system rolls in in the afternoon. The slopes should reset in the net couple of days. The groomers condition is excellent today, perfect conditions to brush up carving skills. Beware of low visibility.

Cracks are starting to form in steep slopes of all elevations. Keep it in mind as they’re difficult to notice from above. Hidden bushes and branches are also lurking under the surface. Be prudent, not overconfident.

Do not enter strictly off limits area to seek fresh snow. Ducking ropes is strictly prohibited by the Niseko Rules. This information is issued to protect the minimum safety and the maximum freedom of all resort users. Please respect the Niseko Rules. New snow will eventually come.
