Anyone get out to enjoy the nighta last night? Can't say I did but I hope to soon. On the list if lift operations below I have noted which lifts plan to operate for nighta with an asterix.

It's quite a mild morning here in Niseko, currently around 3 degrees in the village and not cold out on the slopes either. We have had another 5-10cm or so of snowfall, but it's not prime Niseko powder this time - more of the wet variety. Still, it's definitely better than rain. Let's call it variety! Best conditions will be found higher up and in the trees today. It also looks like Gate 1 will be opening later on.

It is a bit more windy than yesterday but not much and nothing to unduly concern lifts. This morning the Annupuri Gondola is back up and running and the only other lift news I can see is that the top Hanazono lift is running at reduced speed. Other than that, the resorts seem to be open as normal.

Look for temperatures to dip from tomorrow and then bring with it our favourite kind of snow.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko base: +3C, 5cm of wet snow since early morning, calm wind and no snowdrifts development observed. Coastal data: NE4m/s and 0.5m waves. Moiwa 800m wind: NE8m/s. The snow pack reached 200cm at Annnupuri 1000m.
Wet snow is falling due to passing small low-pressure system and the wind is predicted to shift NW and pick up. Loose snow avalanches are likely to occur in steep slopes below 1000m, but the overall avalanche hazard is low. The current snow layer (12/16) could potentially become a trigger-layer under the future snow pack.
The tracks have been slightly covered, although a little sticky, the snow in the trees is in good condition. Do not duck ropes, use gates and respect the Niseko Rules. Gate No.1 is opening today, time to be determined. Ask for advice from the ski patrol before stepping out of the gate.
Beware of falling roof snow in the village.
