Crazy weather last night as thunder and lightning shook the area and temperatures rose to just above zero as a new front moved in.

Conditions were very windy this morning coupled with light snow that formed a whiteout lasting until 9.30.

Official snow depth figures from Niseko United don't seem to have been updated regularly over the last few days and are saying no change since yesterday but at least 15cm was observed directly in village this morning.

King 4, wonderland Chair and Annupuri Jumbo pair 4 opened this morning linking to the peak.

Current lift operations at time of writing (subject to change depending on conditions)

Hirafu family pair, Ace Quad, Ace Pair 3 and Hooded pair 3, swinging monkey and holiday pair running. Gondola also running. and King 4

Gondola, jumbo quad and Pair 2 and Annupuri Pair 3 running. as well as slowed Jumbo pair 4

Niseko Village:
Banzai, Mori no and Community chair and Gondola running and Wonderland Chair

Hanazono lift 1,2 and 3 running

Avalanche Information:
Niseko base 6am: 0°C, 15cm new snow. NW15+m/s wind and humid snow at 1500m altitude and at sea level. Flowing warm air mass combined with wet snow is forming a notable layer in the snow accumulation (Dec 14th). Snowdrifts developments up to 100cm in 1000m leeward slopes, forming an unstable and easily sliding slab on top of Dec 14th layer. Beware of 40cm thick slab avy in steep slopes. Avalanches occur when the conditions are right, it does not depend on whether the amount of new snowfall is big or small. Most avalanche related accidents occur during or just after snowstorms. Beware of the snowfall transition. Many bushes and bamboo grass are still lurking shallow under the surface. Gates are yet to open, do not duck ropes to step out of the boundaries. The new Niseko Rules & Map will be ready on Dec 20th. The Avalanche Info is released based on these new regulations.
