Yesterdays bluebird start didn't last and later it became overcast and snowy again. Snow continued on and off through the night into this morning and there's been another 15cm of excellent quality powder since last report. Just enough to mostly fill in yesterdays tracks and keep the great conditions going. Some aspects on the lower slopes got a little sun crust from yesterday but that'll hardly be felt under the new snow.
Currently there is a little light snow falling with the occasional brief glimpse of blue sky and sun. Winds have remained mostly light and avalanche danger continues to be low making it a great time to head out the gates to enjoy the best terrain Niseko has to offer. The snow should continue for much of the day but will probably clear later tonight. Similar weather is likely to continue through into next week. No big snowfalls on the horizon but we should get regular falls that will continue the very good conditions up there.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.61

Moiwa base 6am: -8℃, 15cm of overnight snowfall.
Coastal data: WNW7m/s at Benkei cape, WSW8m/s, 0.8m waves and 1021hPa at Kamui cape.
WNW15m/s wind is forecasted at noon at the peak.
Although the wind below 1000m is seen to remain mild, moderate wind & snow will persist in higher altitudes.
No drastic development of snowdrifts can be observed and the general avalanche hazard is low.
Couple of weak layers (@20cm and 45cm) has been observed in Yu no sawa 800m SE slope yesterday, however may not induce a major surface slab slide as the top layer is yet to turn into a large slab.
Possibilities of a major scale avalanche from deeper layers is rising in western face around 1000m due to increasing snow accumulation. Should a slide happen, it would run all the way and reach the blocked road. Carefully choose your touring route.
Haru no taki, Yu no sawa and Mizuno no sawa must not be entered at anytime. Unwanted trouble is happening too often. We’d like to demand the people living in the area to take part and inform about the basic rules and the strictly off limits areas to visitors.
Peak gates are scheduled to open at 9:30.
