Lovely day yesterday especially in the morning. During the afternoon there was more thin cloud around but generally a fine day weather wise.

And now here we are on a Monday morning once again.

It's not a particularly exciting morning. I don't have any fresh snow fall to report and the day has started generally overcast-cloudy. It is also on the milder side of things again this morning, about -1C here at base as of 8am.

We could well do with a fresh delivery of snow to reset the mountain now, so all eyes to the skies and the forecasts. The latter are showing different levels of promise in terms of potential snowfall over the next few days, so let's just see what good old nature (we love you!) brings us.

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Niseko base 6am: -2℃, no snowfall. Moiwa800m: -3℃, no snowfall. Anupuri1150m: n/a, Hirafu1250m: -6℃, light breeze, no snowfall. Kamui cape lighthouse: ENE12m/s, 1001hPA, 1.0m waves.

No snowfall and calm morning. The general avalanche risk is low. All gates are scheduled to open form the morning. NE wind will pick up from higher elevation as the next low pressure approaches.

Gates closes at 3pm. Plan ahead of time. The out of bounds area is tracked out.

The snow is still soft in north facing shady aspects and high elevation steep slopes, however a hoar layer is present and is likely to slide with riding stimulation. Beware.

We recommend paying attention to the snowfall strength and its transition for preventing avalanche accidents. Many of the accidents occur during poor weather.

Today’s surface layer will remain as a notable layer in the future snowpack.

People touring into surrounding peaks should beware of sudden weather changes and always check your present position.
